I used to love my birthdays, the countdown would begin sometime in September and each age was a real celebration. Funny how that changes sometime in your 20’s and by the time you hit the 30’s, well, you’re kind of hoping they’ll just happen without you noticing. What’s the point in that? It’s my birthday today, I’m no longer in my early 30’s, as my brother so kindly pointed out to me, if I live to my 70’s then I’m now middle-aged. I will be eating cake today and having fun. Today is a diet-free, work-free zone. The sun is actually shining, I’ve rung the créche and Eve’s not coming in today…we’re going outside to play.

Happy Birthday Claire, and I agree with everything you said except for the middle aged bit. While technically its true, I personally do not think you are middle aged until your 50s. As a 36-year-old I might just say that though
Happy Birthday! And yes. As soon as you hit 30, your birthdays seem to come too frequently, and it’s impossible to remember any previous birthday distinctly, apart from perhaps your 21st, or the aforementioned 30th.
